Label and Packaging Approval / Flavored Malt Beverage Reclassification
Effective October 1, 2008, flavored malt beverages (FMBs) are classified as liquor, not beer in Utah regardless of the amount of their alcohol content. FMBs may only be sold in state liquor store and package agencies, and by on-premise retailers licensed to sell liquor products. Read more on FMBs

Required signage and placement of beer in grocery and convenience stores
Effective May 5, 2008, stores such as grocery and convenience stores that sell beer for off-premise consumption must display all beer products in an "area that is visibly separate and distinct" from the area where nonalcoholic beverages are displayed and post a sign in the alcoholic beverage display area that reads: "These beverages contain alcohol.
